{"id":170,"date":"2017-07-01T16:50:06","date_gmt":"2017-07-01T16:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/milapps.net\/?p=170"},"modified":"2017-07-01T16:50:06","modified_gmt":"2017-07-01T16:50:06","slug":"making-ordnance-identification-available-to-everyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/milapps.net\/?p=170","title":{"rendered":"Making Ordnance Identification Available to Everyone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The continued focus on the use of mobile technology in support of humanitarian demining operations has not only highlighted how these technologies can be adapted and used but has also resulted in tangible tools that can be put to use now.\u00a0 Despite these advances, the cost and availability of these capabilities remains a challenge when resources are limited.\u00a0 Together, the U.S. Army\u2019s Unexploded Center of Excellence (UXOCOE) and the Center for International Stability and Recovery (CISR) at James Madison University have solved a key part of that problem by providing resources and access to make a critical set of information available to a wide audience at no cost \u2013 the Collaborative ORDnance Data Repository (CORD).\u00a0 CORD provides access to over 5,000 ordnance items that assist demining organizations in the proper identification of explosive remnants of war including data on over 700 landmines.\u00a0 Unfortunately, until recently, this information was only available when connected to the internet or when using specific demining toolsets that included the CO<a href=\"https:\/\/milapps.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pic5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-171 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/milapps.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pic5-174x174.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"248\" height=\"248\" srcset=\"https:\/\/milapps.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pic5-174x174.jpg 174w, https:\/\/milapps.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pic5-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/milapps.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pic5-73x73.jpg 73w, https:\/\/milapps.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/pic5-250x250.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><\/a>RD information.<\/p>\n<p>The resources and access provided by the UXOCOE and CISR respectively allowed for the development of the data contained in CORD as an Android based mobile application that is available as a free download on the Google Play Store By developing the capability in this manner, anyone with an Android Smartphone can now download the information contained in CORD for use anytime, anywhere &#8211; no internet connection nor specialized mobile devices are required.
